I have been invited to testify before the House Judiciary Committee this Tuesday, May 23. The Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security is holding a hearing on the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act.
I’ll be the lone witness in opposition to the bill, speaking on the civil liberties implications of this overbroad legislation, and the dangers of recklessly using “terrorism” rhetoric to target activists.
It’s at 10 a.m. in Rayburn House Office Building. For those of you in the area, I hope you can come out. Lawmakers need to know that the public is paying attention to their green baiting, and that we’re not going to allow civil liberties to be rolled back in the name of the “War on Terrorism.”
